Horse owners call for boycott of celebrities, groups

Members and supporters of the United Organizations of the Horse (UOH) recently called on every American who supports the rights of horse owners and the principles upon which this country was founded to boycott celebrities and organizations who have aligned themselves with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

"Anyone who wants to protect their ability to enjoy animals in their lives, to make a living in the time honored professions around animals and animal agriculture; and to raise their children in a wholesome environment needs to join this effort."

UOH said in a press release "We must block efforts by big, wealthy so called nonprofits and their paid for hire celebrities who are becoming a deadly cancer on our society and attempting to constrain and dictate our activities."

"HSUS and PETA and their many minions have been bankrolling an all out assault against the people of the land, " the group said. These attacks threaten our ability to sustain a valuable culture of responsible, sustainable stewardship of the land and the animals. Recent reports show that HSUS paid 41 people salaries in excess of 100.000.00 each. Their leader makes over 250.000.00 per year. These groups spent less than 1/2 of 1 percent of their budget to actually help a single dog or cat, let alone a horse. Their dollars go to hire celebrities, produce media events, and buy off politicians. Their primary purpose is to create drama, manipulate the emotions of those who don't live and work with animals every day, and draw even more dollars into their over-violated accounts.

Slaughter in our own backyards!

How can it happen we ask ourselves? We are civilized and don't we pay attention to what goes on around us? After the story of Jaycee Dougan broke I was shocked that such things could happen and not just once, but over decades and the neighbors noticed or heard nothing. Now another story has broken and I am just as shocked and to think it was right in our back yards.

A man was arrested yesterday for soliciting meat to the public that was un-certified nor was he licensed to sell. At first it was though that he was poaching deer and was selling that on the open market, but it was discovered that he in-fact was linked to a ring that had been stealing horses. He has admitted to slaughtering over 40 horses and selling them for deer meat. His excuse was that the times are hard and he had a family to support. Horses from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana were taken. Warrants for three other men in the county have been issued. James Platter, Herschel Cox, Dennis Myers, Victor Spicier will have to face the outrage of the public for what they have done.

The victims will be notified of their loss and for a short time we can all sleep a little better knowing that the crazy horse thieves are behind bars.

Father and Daughter running Slaughter Scam!

Attention everyone,

Below is information that I received regarding a father and daughter team who are currently taking family horses from the West Michigan area and selling them for slaughter.

Right now many horse owners are unable to keep their horses due to the poor economy and high cost of feed. Many horse owners are simply trying to re-home their horses instead of selling them for money. Henry and Mandy Bolt are taking these horses under the guise of adopting them as a pet or helping to re-home them when they are in fact taking these animals and selling them to a slaughter house.

Here is a list of information regarding the Bolts;

Henry Bolt drives a Black Chevy with a Red Horse Trailer
Mandy Bolt drives a White Chevy with a Red Gooseneck Horse Trailer
Their farm is Located in Howard City, on Lake Montcalm Road.
The Bolts have been using Craig's List to find their victims
The Bolts have been taking horses from all over Michigan's lower peninsula.
A police officer has been out to their farm responding to complaint calls regarding the condition of the horses currently on the property

Please forward this information to your friends, family and co-workers.

Canada Introduces Restrictions

CFIA has announced the introduction of import restrictions on horses and
equine semen originating from the USA as a result of the current US
outbreak of Contagious Equine Metritis. Horses and other equidae (asses,
mules and zebras) will not require an import permit, but will require
additional declarations on the health papers certifying that they have
not been on a premises where Taylorella equigenitalis has been
isolated during the 60 days immediately preceding exportation to Canada
or a premises currently under quarantine or investigation for CEM; and
that any female(s) in the shipment have not been bred naturally to, or
inseminated with, semen from a stallion positive for CEM, or a stallion
resident upon a positive premises or under quarantine or investigation
for CEM. Additionally, the animals must not show any signs of CEM on the
day of inspection.
