Well we had a bit of excitement around here today. Seems like the barn did not get latched and one of the horses opened the rear door and boy the majority of the horses has a little winter holiday run. All the ponies decided to head for the hay field and the horses decided they might as well join them. Trying to round them up was just as exciting since they liked the ideal of being out in the open they took their time getting back.

Now everything is back to normal and no one got hurt.

Regards
Joanna

You really need to be careful and stay safe. Even chasing horses in this kind of weather can be dangerous. I know my grounds are one sheet of ice. I would hate for my horses to be running this time of year. I watch all the time hoping not to see them spirit up and get to playful during this time of year. With the snow down you can't really see whats under there and they could slip on the ice or hit a hole and break legs.

I'm glad to hear you are all doing ok, just be careful.

With the weather as it is thawing it is dangerous too. Don't expect to get out there on your horses and hit the road. We are looking at several more weeks of weather watch before we can safely ride again. However that does not mean you can't have fun right now. I am getting that itchy feeling right now, how about the rest of you. Are you getting over cabin fever and getting itchy to get back into the saddle?

I managed to get in a ride today and believe it or not the 30 degree weather felt like subzero. The wind went right through me and within just a few minutes I was so cold I could not move well on the horse. Thank goodness he was warmer than I was or we would have been in trouble. I am waiting for a break in the weather hoping to get some more riding in, but if it stays like this it will end up being quite a wait.
