Thank You,
Thank You, Thank You:
Every once in a while someone comes along and surprises
you. This year several surprises came my way in the form
of children. What better match to horses than loving
children. My last surprise was meeting Emma and her
wonderful way of giving by having a birthday party and
all the gifts were items for the horses. Now at
Christmas I am once again surprised by a wonderful gift
coming from second graders in Howell Elementary.
Mrs. Keddles class no less. I guess I would have to tell
you about Mrs. Keddles for you to understand fully. .
Kristin Keddles came to us through volunteering. A
gentle woman with a soft spoken voice. She became part of
our Thursday volunteer program. Her husband kindly
donated the port-a-john that we use during the spring
summer and fall. I was so happy when we were given that
wonderful donation. Saving us 75.00 a month that would
serve the horses so much more.
After a few months
working with and getting to know Kristin I felt
comfortable that she could be relied upon to meet her
volunteer position without difficulty. I was able to
take a much needed break from the barn on her nights
there. Coming home one evening just before
Christmas I found propped in my door was an envelope.
Taking it in not thinking to much as I often get a
message or a card in such a way during the holidays.
I tossed it upon my desk while I continued to hang my
coat and scarf in the hallway.
Later on as I sat down to open the
mail I also opened the envelope and to my surprise was a
picture of a class room of wonderful little second
graders. Smiles beaming from ear to
ear as I read the attachment. Through Kristin's guidance
the children collected among themselves enough funds to
purchase 315.00 dollars worth of gift certificates from
the local Tractor Supply Center. I was so
surprised and shocked that tears began to welt up in my
eyes. Little children that love animals and a
teacher that happen our way through the good grace of
god managed to touch me in a way that will never cease
to surprise me.
I don't know why I am
so surprised for there are many out there that donate to
us and help us during the time of need. Through gifts,
donations, and volunteer work, but seldom does a young
child come along that extends it further than expected.
So for closing the 2007 year I have to tip my hat, and
give the award of Hugs Humanitarian Award to a class
room full of young minds. I can only hope that they all
keep the wonderful act of giving throughout their lives.
As for Mrs. Keddles I can only say thank you kind lady
for your loving heart and helpful hands.
